Debut of the First-Ever Bombpot Tournament at The Festival Malta
The Festival Series Malta brought plenty of excitement to the local poker community, who were already doing live satellites for weeks before the event already for the Sviten Special tournament, as well as the TORSES tournament. However, all eyes were set on this one tournament of the week, which was making its debut: The Bombpot Tournament! It was homegrown player Karl Galianze who emerged victorious and kept the trophy on Maltese soil.
The event in Malta would be a real moment to test out the waters in terms of introducing a couple of new formats. Besides the Bombpot tournament, it was also the debut of the 10-Game tournament. The locals in Malta couldn't wait for the event to start, especially the mixed games players. It's grand to see that we have seen many Maltese flags among the players who participated in our poker festival.
The Festival Series was back at the Portomaso Casino in St. Julians, Malta. And with that being said, the Maltese players actually are taking home some chunks of the prize pools. Karl Galianze, a regular of the Maltese community, took down the first-ever Bombpot tournament of The Festival Series. Our host asked him for his feedback on his win: ''It was a very nice experience. It was my first time playing, and I was a bit green at the beginning, but then I got used to the game. I love the game. This has to be in this series. Hopefully, Franke will keep on doing it in the series.''

Being asked about the atmosphere during the tournament, Karl replied: ''The tables were friendly, the dealers were good. I mean, they were, obviously, the dealers had to exchange from Texas to PLO, but everything was under control. Great. Great tournament.''
The Maltese community is very tight and united with each other. Antoine Degiorgio, who everyone gets to know when visiting Malta, on the forefront of it all. But Karl as well, he is a regular face in the daily and weekly tournaments at Portomaso Casino. : ''I come play at the tournaments, weekly tournaments downstairs. We have a good community. The community is quite large. It's growing. You are aware of, obviously, of the Malta Poker Fish and Antoine and all, all the rest of it. And we are a very good, multi-community. Yep.''
After asking him what he thinks of the event and if he is considering coming to The Festival Bratislava, he answers that he is thinking of coming to Bratislava. Together with his partner, and hopefully, they will be able to come there in November.
Bratislava is not a country known for its tropical climate during the winter period. Our host asked him if he would survive the cold, to which he answered: ''For me, I love the cold, so I'm the person who feels hot. So where it's cold, it's good for me. So I can't complain.''
Karl’s win wasn’t just about securing the trophy — it was a celebration for the whole Maltese community, who turned up in force to support one of their own. With Bratislava firmly on his schedule for November, Karl will be looking to continue his Festival Series journey — and represent Malta once again on the European stage. And we can already assure you that the Bombpot Tournament will go down in Bratislava as well!
